Since I already made a post somewhere else with this info, and I'd like to keep it somewhere where I can remember it, here ya go (games listed in no particular order):
Knights of the Old Republic (first one only) -- Best RPG of all time
Call of Duty 1 + Expansion (or 5) -- Well executed FPS
Metal Fatigue -- Best RTS (and possibly game) I've ever played -- unique gameplay
Age of Chivalry -- Unique gameplay -- free off steam
Neverwinter Nights (1 or 2) -- Excellent RPG -- Toolset is amazing
Pharaoh -- Unique -- great RTS -- one of the best RTS's I've played
Civilization (2 or 4) -- Unique -- great gameplay
Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway -- Semi-recent and good FPS -- unique team control abilities in singleplayer -- good multiplayer
Age of Empires II -- Memorable RTS
Warcraft III -- Good RTS
Starcraft -- Do I even need to comment?
Tribes (2 or Vengeance) -- Good vehicles -- good game mechanics -- interesting jetpack feature -- free downloads for 2
Microsoft Flight Simulator X -- Well done flight sim
Sid Mier's Pirates (or any other game by Sid) -- Unique idea + great gameplay
Baulder's Gate II -- great RPG (very old)
Star Wars: Jedi Academy -- massive mod community like for gmod
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory -- Great WWII FPS -- unique class system -- free downloads available
IL-2: Sturmovik -- a good flight sim
Battlefield: Vietnam -- The last good game of the series thus far -- well executed FPS
Oblivion -- great RPG -- maintains well executed atmosphere, unlike Fallout 3
Delta Force: Black Hawk Down -- interesting FPS
Joint Operations: Escalation -- Interesting because of the chopper tactics, big maps, and team strategies
the entire Monkey Island series -- the best point & click adventures ever
Assassin's Creed -- I played it on PS3, but I imagine it's fairly similar -- unique gameplay
Freelancer -- one of the best space oriented games of all time -- unique gameplay -- great modding community
Mech Warrior 4 -- Unique gameplay -- drive a mech from the first person... lots of customization
Tie-Fighter -- An interesting unique flight simulator from the early period of PC games
(Command & Conquer) Red Alert 2 and/or Generals:Zero Hour -- Great RTS games
Vietcong -- unique gameplay, squads well done -- interesting story -- memorable music
Some of the finest gems of the computer games industry ^^^^ -- not all of them are new, in fact, most of them are really old, I hate what the industry has been doing lately, emphasis should be on gameplay, not graphics.
